The 9 Grahas

The Sun is Atmakaraka — significator of the soul. A strong Sun gives leadership, fame, and robust health. Afflicted Sun causes ego issues and authority conflicts.

The Moon governs the mind (Manas). It waxes and wanes, affecting our emotional rhythms. Shukla Paksha strengthens the Moon; Krishna Paksha weakens it.

Mars is energy, ambition, and aggression. Mangal Dosha arises when Mars occupies houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, or 12. Mars in own/exalted sign gives a great warrior spirit.

Mercury is the planet of intellect and communication. It goes retrograde 3× yearly — a time for review, not new launches. Mercury with Jupiter gives great wisdom.

Jupiter is the greatest benefic. A strong Jupiter bestows divine grace, learning, and prosperity. Guru transit (every ~12 months) is a major predictive milestone.

Venus is Shukracharya, guru of the Asuras. It governs all pleasures and aesthetics. Shukra in the 7th house is especially potent for marriage prospects.

Saturn is the great karmic teacher. Sade Sati (7.5 years) and Dhaiya (2.5 years) are significant Saturn transits. A well-placed Saturn grants lasting success through effort.

Rahu is the North Node — a shadow planet with no physical body. It amplifies and distorts what it touches. Rahu Dasha can bring sudden, unconventional success or upheaval.

Ketu is the South Node — headless and spiritually oriented. Ketu Dasha often brings spiritual breakthroughs, isolation, or connection to past-life karma. It is a moksha-karaka.
