What is Gun Milan (36 Gunas)?

Gun Milan is a way to check if two people match for marriage using their birth charts. It gives a score out of 36 points across 8 areas. A higher score means a better traditional match, and 18 out of 36 or more is usually seen as okay.

The 8 areas (kootas)

The 36 points are shared across 8 things - like nature, friendship, family, and health. Each area adds some points to the total.

What score is good?

Below 18 is weak, 18 to 24 is okay, 25 to 32 is very good, and 33 to 36 is excellent. But some special points (like Nadi) still need a closer look, even with a good score.

It is more than a number

The score is only one part. Good astrologers also check Mars (Mangal Dosha), the marriage house, and planet timings before deciding.
